How it works
We compute your bottleneck percentage and limiting component with the same model as the homepage tool. Recommendations step up one product tier based on severity, with approximate FPS-gain and price bands for planning.
Data sources
Scores come from our shared CPU/GPU database. Methodology details live on the methodology page. Recommendations are guidance, not purchase guarantees — see the disclaimer.
FAQ
How does the Upgrade Advisor choose CPU vs GPU?
It runs the same bottleneck math as the homepage calculator. If the CPU is the limiting side above a mild threshold, it recommends a CPU step-up; if the GPU is limiting, it recommends a GPU step-up.
What if my build is already balanced?
You will see a “no must-buy upgrade” style result. Balanced pairings rarely need an urgent swap — chase resolution, refresh rate, or features instead.
Are the price ranges exact?
No. Prices are rough retail bands to help prioritize value. Check current market pricing before you buy.
Should I upgrade RAM or storage instead?
This advisor focuses on CPU/GPU imbalance. If you already have a severe RAM or storage constraint, fix that first — then re-run the tool.
Where can I see the full analysis?
Open the homepage bottleneck calculator for tabs covering comparison, power, scenarios, and more detail around the same pairing.
